Telling a good story is only half the battle -- great writers also strive for clarity, precision, and elegance. This half-day seminar is for all writers who need a little extra help with the challenges of punctuation, grammar, and style. You will learn to identify errors in your work, receive recommended reading and other tools, and learn invaluable editing and proofreading tips that will help you achieve clarity, consistency, and grace in your writing.

We'll first focus on your concerns with your own work, helping you identify trouble spots and how to overcome them. We'll present the good, the bad, and the ugly, drawing from real-life examples as we review some of the basics of good writing. We'll help you learn how to avoid the most common mistakes as you aim to improve your writing style, and you'll do writing exercises guaranteed to help you understand the mysterious world of grammar, punctuation, and style.

In this seminar, you will:
  • learn to identify problems in your writing
  • review (briefly!) the grammar basics you forgot years ago
  • do writing exercises that will break bad writing habits
  • learn tips for the hallmarks of good writing
  • discover how to become your own best editor
