Understanding the Literary MarketplaceGetting Published is now being offered as a two-part series.Two Saturdays, July 12 and 19, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Getting Published, Part I: Finding the Right Homes for Your Short Stories, Poems, and Essays Designed for writers and poets who are ready to get their work out into the world, this half-day seminar will give you the tools and knowledge you need to navigate the literary marketplace. You will learn how to prepare your work for publication in literary magazines and journals, as well as how to research appropriate markets. Getting Published, Part II: Pitching Manuscripts and Book Proposals to Agents & Editors Designed for novelists and nonfiction writers, this half-day seminar will teach you how to research literary agencies and small presses, and how prepare your work for agents and editors. You'll learn how (and when) to find an agent, as well as how to prepare manuscripts and proposals -- including how to write professional query letters, synopses, and author bios.
